Dancing in New Orleans June 13 2014
As a Lindy hopper visiting New Orleans someday in your life it’s a must. Why? Plain and simple. Live music is everywhere! Big bands, Brass bands,Blues, Swing, Jazz, Soul, hip hop, you name it. Plus, people from New Orleans are super friendly and in a great mood. Cheap eats, bike friendly and of course the lovely Lindy hop scene.
New Orleans is a city chosen by many tourist’s to party on bachelor/ ette away trips, the famous Bourbon street has become a sins alley (?) Strippers, lousy music covers, tits and beer. Local dancers and musicians choose told us that best days for dancing are Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays.
If you wanna see THE REAL THING head over to Frenchmen St. this is where music just pop out from every single bar, at least three bands playing everyday in each bar, and there is one bar next to the other so walk up and down the street and spot out the dancers inside.
Lindy scene swings from Mimis (Wednesdays),to DBA bar, The Spotted Cat Music Club (Fridays) and Always Lounge on Sundays.
This amazing city is where great artists, dancers, dancing teachers and bands choose to live such as Andy Reid, Petter Loggins and Bobby Bonsey, Tubba Skinny The Smoking Orchestra and The Palmetto Bug Stompers So don't miss out and put those dancing shoes in your carry-on!
