Have you ever celebrated your birthday dancing in a Jam? May 23 2019

Have you ever celebrated your birthday dancing in a Jam? And felt the thrill of being invited to dance, or well let's say it, lovingly stolen from one dancer too and other, from friends to complete strangers, from beginners to teachers?

Or have you ever participated in spontaneous Jam that just like a smoke bomb appears out of nothing in the middle of the room to fulfill our souls of pure joy?

If you have maybe you feel and think like I do.
.
I truly believe and proven there are few things in life that can make us feel the happiness of what a dancing Jam can. Whether you are dancing or clapping around it, the fact everyone is there moving their body to the sound of music for the fun of it it's just amazing.

Egos disappear it is a fact, brotherhood arises.
To each creative step or even fall, there is an equivalent and LOUD cheer. The energy swirls on increasing stages of liveness. And there is no sweeter circle made in any other environment, not in classes, not in competitions, not in rehearsals. Just beautiful social dance, where it all once started.

If you haven't had the guts to get into a jam, because you believe you gotta be a great dancer to participate, cos that's what usually happens, or if you ever thought someone cannot go inside because of the same reason, think twice.
Jams are about fun, about mutual encouragement, about improvisation, playfulness and most of all to set free our creativity and spirit.

So next time you see one or it's your birthday do it. Allow yourself to be the center for a bit. Cos you are not the center and are at the same time. This is a center that spirals into each one looking and inspires.

Go for it, be happy, life is now.

Share if you Agree.

Much Love, Victoria from TheLindyShop.

Lindy Hop: A Korean Take Over September 12 2014

Lindy Hop in Korea has only started 7 years ago and has already become one of the biggest social swing dancing scenes in the world, gathering already more than 5000 dancers in the city of  Seoul. Not only there is a huge offer of swing dancing venues but also a the quality of the dancing can be compared to the one found on international events such as Herrang, an exchange, or a special event dance weekend.

There are several Lindy Hop clubs in Korea. Most commonly in Seoul, this are call “Swing Bar” which typically opens around 7 PM to the end of the dance and most of dances go from 8PM to 12AM, but it depends on the swing bar and the day of the week.Entrance fees are about $6 american dollars or around 5000 to 8000 WON, which is the Korean currency and include one beverage.

This growing community has lead up to swing addicts wish came true. YOU CAN DANCE EVERY NIGHT ! Yes! Seoul has up open Swing Bar from Monday to Sunday  Here is a recommended list for dancing: Sunday: Swing Time,Monday: Big Apple,Tuesday: Swing Time ,Wednesday: RingoPop or Swing Zoo,Thursday: Boogie Woogie or Sky Grand Ballroom,Friday: Happy,Saturday: (varies).

Korean swing dancers usually use their nicknames inside the scene, for fun and also to make the cultural gap smaller with the rest of the world dancers (Lets admit it, non Asian people as us suck at remembering and pronouncing names). So i will be common if you meet up  with people with cute, funny of English names that you wouldn't typically imagine. It is common on the scene to dance only one song with each partner, so don't feel excluded if you partner does not ask you for another dance!  Korean Men are said to be kind of shy, as a follower it is common to ask for a dance as well. This is an open minded community.

Happy Birthday Frankie Manning! May 28 2014

Frankie Manning is dancing in heaven! Yes he is ! The biggest and most amazing birthday party NYC (and probably the world) has ever seen has recently finished (and we are still recovering).

New york city held five days of non stop craziness that included great shows in historical places where lindy hop was born like the Apollo theatre and the Cotton Club up in East Harlem. Live Bands that would play ALL NIGHT LONG till 4 am, such as Gordon Webster, The Carling Family Band and the George Gee Orchestra.Amazing all levels lessons, and a crazy fast hellzappoping comptetition won by Soochan Lee and Hyun Jung Choi from Korea

We could not believe our eyes when more than two thousand slices of a sweet potato pie we have only heard about in songs where served just before midnight. All of a sudden blue and yellow ballons filled the air and flown vividly up and down three storages at Terminal 5 while  people from over 47 nations from Seoul to Argentina sang  together  the happy birthday. All, to honor a man we will always love and keep his memory alive. The one and only Frankie Manning!
